Cranbrook C of E Primary

Community

The school also encourages children to help people in the local community by such things as organising collections for Harvest Festival and visits by the choir to the  Day Care Centres for Senior Citizens.

Church links

As a Church of England School, we are keen to partner with churches in the community so that our children are offered rich experiences and opportunities to engage widely with the Christian faith. We have strong partnerships with two local churches: St Dustan's Church and The Vine Church. Representatives from both churches come in to lead collective worship and other events on a weekly basis. We also hold some of our Christian celebration services at St Dunstan's Church, including Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter services.

Charities

The children are encouraged to develop a sense of community by raising money for charity and good causes. This includes assisting charities around the world.

Some of the charities we regularly support are:

  • Love in a Box
  • Comic Relief
  • Children in Need
  • Fair Trade
  • Poppy Appeal
  • NSPCC

Local Schools

As well as having strong links with the local primary schools, we also regularly partner with secondary schools, inviting their students to visit our pupils for learning opportunities, and also visiting other schools to enjoy some of their facilities, including watching performances, orchestras and plays. In the summer term, our year 5 students spend several afternoons at Cranbrook School, experiencing the type of facilities and lessons that they will receive when they leave primary school.  We also have Cranbrook School students visit our school weekly, to take part in 'Mad Maths' activities and to Peer Mentor our pupils.

Year 9 and Year 12 students from Cranbrook School working on weekly 'Mad Maths' problem solving activities with our pupils.

Starfish Malawi

Starfish Malawi is a Christian organisation seeking to make a difference in education, vocational training, and health awareness by helping to build the Kingdom of God in the lives of children.

Cranbrook Church of England Primary School is linked with Kambwiri School, Malawi. The link has been facilitated by the organisation ‘Starfish Malawi’. The aim of the link is not charity but global education:

‘To motivate our pupils’ commitment to a fairer, more sustainable world.’
