Outdoor Learning

Our Curriculum offers opportunities for all children to enjoy first-hand experience outdoors, whether within our extensive school grounds, in urban green spaces, in the local countryside or in wilder environments.

Such experiences inspire passion, motivating our children to become successful learners and to develop as healthy, confident, enterprising and responsible citizens.

At Cranbrook children have opportunities to learn in the school garden and join the Gardening Club. Each class is responsible for an outside area and children work across the school year to ensure it is maintained. We have been successful in winning the Kent life magazine ‘Best Primary school Garden 2015’ and have been awarded the Silver medal for Cranbrook in Bloom School Gardens.

Children visit our amazing woodland area where they can participate in a variety of activities from pond dipping, to art work and storytelling. Children can have nature works and research the animals that live within the environment.

Forest School

We have now embarked on the exciting pursuit of setting up our own forest school! This venture will be led by one of our staff, Miss Johnson, who is herself currently training to have Forest School Leader status. Over the academic year we will be developing our grounds and outdoor spaces to make the most of the woodland and fields within our school site. Pupils will have a chance to take part in lessons outdoors, as well as team building activities, use of the reflection and prayer area and participation in group forest schooling activities. We will keep you updated on our progress!
